Speaker

The Rev. Dr. Edmund (Eddie) Gibbs
Eddie Gibbs joined Fuller Theological Seminary in 1984 from his homeland of England with an extensive interest in mission which included serving as a missionary in Santiago and Quilpue, Chile, with his wife Renee. Currently, his academic interests include evangelizing nominal Christians and assisting local churches to become evangelizing churches. The church's response to modernity and post-modernity in becoming a missionary presence in that context is the subject of his most current book in process. In the last few years, his teaching has taken him to Singapore, Korea, UK, and Switzerland, among others, as well as, around the United States extensively. Some of his publications include In Name Only (1994), I Believe in Church Growth (1981, revised 1985, 1989), Good News is for Sharing (1993), and ChurchNext (IVP-US 2001, IVP-UK 2002).

Topic

The next generation of leader will not only be a younger leader but a different king of leader.  We will highlight some of the distinctive leadership characteristics for an emerging church that is both motivated and shaped by its sense of mission.  These insights are a preview of his forthcoming book LeadershipNext (InterVarsity Press, August, 2005).
