The Rev. Dr.
Edmund (Eddie) Gibbs |
 |
Eddie Gibbs joined Fuller Theological Seminary in 1984 from
his homeland of England with an extensive interest in
mission which included serving as a missionary in Santiago
and Quilpue, Chile, with his wife Renee. Currently, his
academic interests include evangelizing nominal Christians
and assisting local churches to become evangelizing
churches. The church's response to modernity and
post-modernity in becoming a missionary presence in that
context is the subject of his most current book in process.
In the last few years, his teaching has taken him to
Singapore, Korea, UK, and Switzerland, among others, as well
as, around the United States extensively. Some of his
publications include In Name Only (1994), I Believe in
Church Growth (1981, revised 1985, 1989), Good News is for
Sharing (1993), and ChurchNext (IVP-US 2001, IVP-UK 2002).

The next generation of leader

leader. We will highlight some of the distinctive
leadership characteristics for an emerging church that is
both motivated and shaped by its sense of mission.

3-2004 adopted at Council 2004 allowed churches the option
of redirecting the Episcopal Church USA Asking percentage of
its apportionment to mission outside the Diocese under the
oversight of the Executive Board and the World Mission
Department. Approximately $341,330 was redirected with
amazing results. Listen to some of the miracles from
those who witnessed them. |

Hugh Magers was Interim
Rector at St. Luke's in San Antonio, Texas, before his
retirement in the Diocese of Texas. Formerly he served
as Director of Stewardship and later Director of Evangelism
at the Episcopal Church Center. He is a graduate of Texas
A&M University and the Virginia Theological Seminary and
attended the University of Texas Law School. A member of
the Board of Directors of the Episcopal Network for
Stewardship, Hugh is noted as a consultant to dioceses and
parishes on stewardship, evangelism, and Hispanic Ministry
development. |

"Green" or Sustainable building has several objectives:
-
reducing the level of consumption through
guidelines for selection and use of materials;
-
using sustainable materials conserves
dwindling resources and reduces environmental impacts
-
contributes to reduced maintenance and
replacement costs during the life of a building.
Case studies will be used to demonstrate implementation of
green building methods and materials. Also sample
materials will be presented and their usage explained. |

Al Silva
In 1981, Al
became the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer to
Labatt Food Service. Since then, Labatt has grown from $8
million to over $440 million in sales. The company was
number 13 in the "Top 50" of ID Magazine (Institutional
Distribution) for March 2003. His Community and Board
Service includes: University Health Systems Development
Corporation, Children's Shelter, Texas Cavaliers, Volunteer
Basketball Coach, San Antonio Academy, Texas Lutheran
College, Good Samaritan Center, Alamo Heights Independent
School District, National Conference for Community and
Justice (NCCJ), San Antonio Independent School District, and
Youth Orchestras of San Antonio 2004. As a child Mr. Silva
lived just a few blocks away from the GSC, and he credits
the Center for much of his success today, by teaching him to
read, write and speak English. |

Oettinger
In 1996, Jill became the Executive Director of the
Good Samaritan Center. The Centers annual budget has grown
from $700,000 to over $4 million. The Center serves over
3,000 clients annually. |

Community Services will create five new social service
agencies in the next ten years within the Diocese.
This workshop will discuss; how new sites will be selected,
resources the local church-community will need to provide,
how social service agencies are funded, possible programs
and the role of the umbrella organization in providing
support services. |

Sandra S. Swan
has been president of Episcopal Relief and Development since
1999. She previously managed development and marketing
programs for The New York Hospital - Cornell University
Medical Center, International Executive Service Corps, and
the National Corporate Theatre Fund. Before joining the
nonprofit world, she was manager of communications for
American Airlines, and started her own publishing company.
She is a member of the Board of Directors of InterAction,
the largest alliance of U.S.- based international
development and humanitarian nongovernmental organizations,
and serves on its Finance/Audit Committee and its Private
Voluntary Organization Standards committee.
Ms. Swan graduated from the University of Nebraska and holds
an M.A. from Baylor University and an M.B.A. from the Stern
School of Business, New York University (and is a graduate
of the Landscape Design program of the New York Botanical
Garden). She is active in her home parish of Christ and Holy
Trinity in Westport, Connecticut. She and her husband,
Bruce, have three children and two grandchildren. |
