Eleanor Stromberger

Having grown up in the Episcopal Church, Eleanor has been an active participant in the life of the church for many years and is a member of St. Luke's, San Antonio.  She has sung in her church choir for over 25 years and served on the Christian education and stewardship commissions.  Much of Eleanor's energy in the last few years has been focused on ministry to those suffering from addiction and those in recovery.  She is an active member of the Recovery Ministries Commission of the Diocese of West Texas, serving as its Recovery Sunday coordinator and a member of the Education Task Force.  Eleanor has been on the board of Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church since 2002, is currently Treasurer of that organization and becomes President in January, 2006.

Topic About 10% of the U.S. population suffers from alcohol or drug addiction.  Each of those suffering persons has a circle around them, usually from five to nine people, who are directly affected by the disease of addiction.  These people are parents, spouses, siblings, employers, employees, co-workers, friends or clergy of the afflicted person and often participate in unhealthy patterns that enable and perpetuate the disease.  Many of these people are friends that we see in church.  We seek, by God's grace, to help those looking for healing from the unhealthy patters and, thus create a healthier church family.

We will also enjoy entertainment from "HYPE", a high-energy youth group sponsored by the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

This has been done at both the local church and denominational levels. He has developed and taught numerous national seminars and teaches frequently at local colleges and universities.
