Sometime around mid-August 2005, the 750 or so vestry and bishop's committee members of the 92 churches of the diocese will open their mailboxes to find the first-ever version of a booklet titled Requests for Funding for the Diocesan Reaching Out Budget.

Beginning in 2006, the entire diocesan budget of about $3.4 million will be separated into two parts: the Reaching Out Budget and the Operating Budget.

Allocation Form Sample

This form must be returned to the diocesan office no later than November 1, 2005.

The Reaching Out budget requires the input of our 92 congregations to determine allocations. Each vestry or bishop's committee will  complete a budget allocation form - one per church - telling us how they wish to support diocesan ministries. An example of the form for submitting those allocations - no later than November 1, 2005 - is below. Note that your vestry/bishop's committee may elect to have the Executive Board allocate your church's portion, or your vestry/bishop's committee may make its allocations by applying percentages to the ministries listed on the allocation form. Your allocation may equal 100 percent, or you may elect to allocate only a part of your portion and have the Executive Board allocate the remainder.

Please note that the total of the ministries' funding requests will likely exceed the total funds available. It may be that if some ministries are fully funded, other ministries will by necessity be under-funded. No ministry will be funded more than it has requested, except as stipulated by the Executive Board. If ministries are over-funded, the Executive Board may allocate the overages to other under-funded ministries.
