They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. All the believers were together and had everything in common . . .[and] they gave to anyone as he had need. (Acts 2:42, 44-45)

2006 and 2007 Diocesan Operating Budgets

The 2007 Operating Budget, of about $2.46 million, represents about 2/3 of the entire diocesan budget. It supports the offices and activities of our two bishops; the ordained ministry through education, chaplaincies, deployment, and other programs; insurance costs for clergy and laity, both active and retired; administrative and operating costs of the Bishop Jones Center, the diocesan headquarters in San Antonio; and diocesan staff salaries.  A two year Operating Budget is developed by the Diocesan Finance Department in October (See excerpted Operating Budget below.)

In November the combined Reaching Out and Operating budget is assembled by the Diocesan Finance Department, submitted to the Executive Board for approval, and is adopted by the Annual Diocesan Council in February of the next year (See Combined Budgets at the bottom of this page.)
